Twilight Star Taylor Lautner Signed Up For UK Sitcom

Taylor Lautner, who’s most famous for his Twilight role as Jacob Black, is about to set his sails to the sea of sitcoms. To be precise, Taylor’s heading to the UK as the new star of BBC’s comedy Cuckoo.

The rumours about the Twilight hunk taking the lead role in the second season of Cuckoo started nearly a month ago, while BBC Three executives just now officially confirmed that Taylor’s up for the sitcom.

A statement from BBC Three controller Zai Bennett reads, “Cuckoo was one of BBC3’s most stand-out comedies, so I’m delighted to welcome it back with the addition of superstar Taylor Lautner joining the critically acclaimed Greg Davies and an outstanding British comedy cast for what will be one of the comedy treats of the year.”

According to Zai’s statement, Taylor will play a “mysterious young stranger who shows up in Litchfield, Staffordshire.”

Former Friends actress Helen Baxendale, who played Ross’ fiancée Emily, and The Inbetweeners star Davies, are already waiting for the new star’s arrival. We’re keeping them fingers crossed.

Lautner is coming as a replacement to Andy Samberg, who appeared in the first season of the series.

At the same time, former Cuckoo’s star Samberg recently earned his first Golden Globe Award for his role in sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine. It seems like everyone is a winner.
