Stella McCartney Apologizes Over Controversial ‘Skeleton-Looking’’ Model Instagram Photo

Popular British fashion designer Stella McCartney issued an apology after posting a picture on her Instagram of an extremely thin model under the caption “worn well!!! X Stella”.

The picture, which was taken backstage during Paris Fashion Week on Monday, sparked much controversy and received criticism from Stella’s numerous followers:

“Appalling image. This young lady is clearly very ill and the body image being used is all that is wrong with the fashion world.”

“Shame on you Stella. I thought you designed with real women in mind. This is too much.”

A few hours after the photo was posted, it was replaced with an image of British model Malaika Firth in the same shirt and the brand have since issued an official apology.

“We are a house that celebrates all shapes, all sizes, all races and all ages. We should have been more mindful… It was a quick snap done backstage that was misleading. We listened to our followers and we took it down and replaced it. We can only apologize if we offended anyone.”
