Sam Smith’s Dream Come True – He’s Landed a Duet With Mary J. Blige!



British soul sensation Sam Smith has now teamed up with his childhood idol Mary J. Blige for an emotional rendition of his hit song Stay With Me.

The two recorded the song for music video website the 22-year old newcomer admitted he was thrilled to get the opportunity to sing with superstar Mary.

He said, “Working with Mary J. Blige is one of the biggest highlights of my career so far. I remember holding her album in my hands in the car when I was a young boy. To meet your idols is a magical thing, but to work with them is truly a dream come true.

Blige also praised Sam over his undoubtable talent, and even went on and compared him to music legends, including Luther Vandross.

She said, “I’m so honoured to have had the chance to work with Sam Smith. Sam’s true soulful voice… is the first of this kind I have heard since Luther Vandross, Freddie Jackson and all the great soulful male voices from the ’80s. I’m completely blown away by his talent, soul and the sincerity.

Smith’s first album titled In The Lonely Hour, became the U.K.’s fastest selling debut of 2014 so far when it charted at number one over the weekend May 30-June 1.

The singer said, “It’s amazing. I was a bit scared a few days ago because I knew that Coldplay’s album had come out.

I’m so happy.”
