Royal Baby: Zara Phillips Has Given Birth To A Baby Girl

Zara Phillips, the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II, has given birth to a baby girl.

On Friday January 17, Zara’s first child was welcomed by the British royal at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in Gloucester, England.

The baby’s name still hasn’t been announced, but it was reported that the baby weighted in at seven pounds and twelve ounces. Phillips’ husband and rugby player Mike Tindall was with her during the birth.

The official royal family statement says, “Mrs Michael Tindall today safely delivered a baby girl at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. Mr Tindall was present at the birth. The weight of the baby was seven pounds, twelve ounces… The baby’s name will be confirmed in due course.”

The baby is 16th in line to the throne, and according to the statement, great-grandparents, the Queen and Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, are “delighted” by the news.

Mike wrote on his Twitter account, “Thanks so much for all your kind messages. Definitely the best day of my life today, so happy! The girls are both doing great!”

Tina Cook, Zara’s friend, said, “I’m absolutely thrilled for her, speaking as someone who’s got two children myself. It’s very exciting that she can now join the mummy ranks.”
