According to actor Sir Kenneth Branagh, Queen Elizabeth II was extremely pleased to receive an honorary award from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

The Queen was given the prize at the ceremony hosted by the star of My Week With Marilyn. The ceremony celebrated the UK film industry and was held at the royal residence Windsor Castle, last April.

Kenneth says it was just a couple of months after the Queen showed her cheerful side in a sketch with James Bond’s actor Daniel Craig during the opening ceremony of the London Olympic Games 2012.

He also recalls that the Queen was thrilled to receive the honour.

Chatting to Graham Norton during the talk show, Branagh explained, “I had the bizarre privilege of presenting her with an honorary BAFTA. It was at Windsor Castle with a lot of film types and I think people were tempted to ask if she would consider other roles or is she just a Bond girl! I think she was really amused to get it.”
