Kate Winslet Gives Her Son A Fiery Name

After a horrific house fire that brought actress Kate Winslet together with her husband Ned Rocknroll, the couple decided to name their son Blaze in memory of the dreadful event.

The two met in 2011 during a vacation at Ned’s uncle Sir Richard Branson’s extravagant island resort in the Caribbean on Necker Island. When the luxury estate burned down, they decided it would be very much appropriate to give their son the middle name after the tragic event that brought them together. Bear Blaze was born on December 13th.

In her interview with Ellen DeGeneres the actress said, “Bear’s second name is Blaze because my husband and I met in a house fire basically. Well will did. The house burned down and we survived. So we wanted something of the fire and so Blaze was the name that we came up with.”

As for the kid’s first name, she remembers, “A friend of mine when I was younger was nicknamed Bear. And I just sort of always really loved it. He was very much a bear. He was everyone’s shoulder to cry on, he was a big bear hug and he was just this great figure in my life… I just always remembered him so that’s where that came from.”
