Idris Elba And Broadchurch Rocked RTS Awards



Actress Idris Elba was awarded with one of the top prizes at Britain’s Royal Television Society Awards. The ceremony was held on Tuesday in London.

Idris picked up the Best Male Actor Award for his role in UK crime series Luther. The Best Actress award was handed to Olivia Colman for her role in detective drama Broadchurch, while the judges called her “an actor at the top of her game.”

During the ceremony at Londons Grosvenor House Hotel, Game of Thrones was named Best International Programme, while Broadchurch picked up Best Drama Serial award.

UK soap opera Coronation Street landed Best Soap and Continuing Drama. The lifetime achievement award was handed to Poirot actor David Suchet.

The RTS Awards are decided by a panel of judges in order to honour brilliance in television over the last year.

Comedian Stephen Fry tweeted: “Oh I’m all of a doo-dah: just won RTS best Presenter award for Out There – v chuffed.”
