As a part of a new documentary, football legend David Beckham spent two weeks hiking through the Amazon rainforest.

His adventurous journey was part of a 90-minute BBC film, which will include David’s life through 14 days of cooking, camping and fishing. The secret expedition took place through the jungles of Brazil, where the soccer star showed his survival skills.

The sports icon was accompanied on the journey by two friends and director Anthony Mandler. The group’s goal was to explore the natural beauty of the country ahead of the upcoming World Cup tournament this summer.

Charlotte Moore, BBC spokeswoman, said in a statement, “In this special documentary for BBC1, David Beckham embarks on a top secret expedition to the Amazon that will see him encounter the other side of Brazil and journey through the tropical rainforest, a TV first for the global icon.”

The documentary will air in June in the UK, to overlap with the soccer tournament.
