Dave Lee Travis Charged Over TV Show Attack

DJ Dave Lee Travis, a troubled British, has been charged with indecent assault for an alleged attack of a woman during an appearance on a British TV show in the 1990s.

The 68-year old is accused of attacking a female over the age of 16 in 1995. The alleged incident happened while he was a guest on The Merton Show. The show was hosted by comic Caroline Aherne from 1995 to 1998.

Dave Lee, from Buckinghamshire, England, should make his appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London on April 24.

His latest legal issues come as he faces a retrial on charges of indecent sexual assault. However, the jury wasn’t able to reach a verdict on the two charges in February 2014.

Dave Lee Travis, real name David Patrick Griffin, is a disc jockey, radio and television presenter. He began his long career on the pirate radio station named Radio Caroline in 1965. In the 1970s, he became one of the BBC Radio 1’s leading presenters, which continues through the 80s and he was also a regular presenter of Top of the Pops.

After finishing his work on BBC in 1993, he moved to several British commercial radio stations.

In 2012, Dave Lee was arrested by officers from Operation Yewtree under suspicion of historic sexual offences. He denied all of them.

In February 2014, he was found not guilty on twelve of the counts.
