Millions of viewers and fans worldwide fidgeted nervously in their seats when legendary trio Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May left Top Gear. Now, Chris Evans has also called it quits after just one season, Daily Mail reports.

The main reason for Evans leaving the franchise is that the rating plummeted from six to two million viewers. Yes, it’s a considerable loss and one that Evans couldn’t handle so he just walked away with a tweet explaining that even though he gave it his best, it just wasn’t enough.

Rumor has it that James Martin, the star of Saturday Kitchen, who is also a known car aficionado, will take his place. BBC still hasn’t confirmed this piece of gossip, claiming that no one will substitute Evans.

This is good news for Matt LeBlanc, whose Top Gear role will now become crucial. Viewers love LeBlanc and chances are that Evans will soon be forgotten.
