Celebrity Bonds: Stevie Nicks’ Amazing Advice To Katy Perry

Blooming friendship between Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks and Katy Perry is nothing new, but they might be better friends than you thought. During her latest talk, Stevie Nicks told Katy Perry to consider her peers as her genuine friends, and not to let the Internet and the media get to her.

Nicks told ABC News about a three hour conversation she had with Perry in London in 2013; what she expected to be a 20 minutes chit-chat turned into a several hour long discussion on every possible topic.

During their talk, Perry started questioning Nicks about her debut album, Bella Donna, and about her solo career since 1981. What Nicks recalls as the most fascinating point of the evening was when Perry asked her about rivals. “She said to me, ‘So when you did Bella Donna who were your rivals?’ And I was, like, speechless. I was, like, ‘I didn’t have any rivals.’ And she said, ‘Really? None?’ I said, ‘No… The girls in Heart were friends. Pat Benatar was a friend.'”

Quite surprised by her question, Nicks asked Perry who were her rivals and she replied “Well, it’s not us. It’s the Internet”, referring to the many Internet rumors and fans who are known for starting arguments between celebrities.

Nick recalls some of the advices she gave to Perry which could be quite useful in the 29-year old star’s future career. “I said to her, ‘Katy, let me tell you something. You don’t have any rivals. So forget that. Never say that word again. You don’t have rivals. All of those girls? Friends. You’ll probably work with all of them at some point. Friends.'”

During a Fleetwood Mac concert in Las Vegas on 30 December, Nicks surprised Perry and her boyfriend John Mayer by dedicating her hit “Landslide” to the couple who were in the audience. Soon after, Perry’s boyfriend tweeted from her account: “John here. Katy can’t write because she’s getting over Stevie Nicks dedicating Landslide to us at the Fleetwood Mac concert.
