There are many things about  Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou that are not publicly known.
As you might’ve noticed, one of them is his real name:  Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou.

His father, Kyriacos Panayiotou, a Cypriot restaurateur, moved to England in the 1950s and changed his name to Jack Panos.

The rest is history, so lets take a stroll down the memory lane with 8 things that you should know about our beloved Georgios.

1. Christmas Is His Favorite Holiday

George Michael is one of the few artists to have a song on both the #1 and #2 spots in the Christmas Singles charts – when “Do They Know It’s Christmas” from Band Aid was #1 and “Last Christmas” from Wham was #2 way back in 1984.

2. He Does Private Parties; But Check The Pricing

Russian billionaire Vladimir Potanin allegedly paid George Michael £1.7 million to sing at his NYE party – ahem, Mr Potanin… we don’t have plans for this year and will gladly oblige for half the price.

3. Wrote His First Hit Song When He Was 17

The timeless classic “Careless Whisper” was his first solo single when he was 21 years old, although he actually wrote it in an afternoon when he was just 17 years old.

4. He’s A Huge Beatles Fan

A massive Beatles fan, George Michael bought the Steinway Model Z upright piano used by John Lennon for an incredible £1.67 million and sent it to the Beatles Story museum in Liverpool in 2000.

I wonder if he used the cash he got from the Russian NYE gig.
