1. Roderick Stewart

Rod Stewart was actually born Roderick David Stewart – good job they shortened it to Rod; Roderick just doesn’t cut it in the world of rock ‘n roll.

2. Blondes

Rod Stewart is famous for his love of tall, leggy blondes. He’s actually married three of them: first there was Alana Stewart followed by the beautiful Rachel Hunter, and he’s now happily married to Penny Lancaster. His list of tall, leggy, blonde girlfriends is much longer however.

3. Big Family

Rod Stewart is a firm family man with no less than seven children from his various wives and relationships; he loves nothing more than a good old family get-together with all of his children and is apparently quite a strict father.

4. He Was Gravedigger

Before “Maggie May” helped him to strike it rich as a rocker, he dealt with rocks of a different kind – as a gravedigger. How’s that for street cred?

5. He Immigrated

Rod Stewart actually high tailed it to Los Angeles in 1975, applying for a US Citizenship. That’s before California was packed to the rafters with British celebrities trying to avoid paying British taxes.

6. He Cured Of Cancer

Rod Stewart suffered a health scare in 2000 when he was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. The good news is that everything turned out fine, but he had to learn how to sing all over again… He did a pretty good job of it don’t you think?

7. Recieved CBE From HM Queen Elizabeth II

He was proud to receive the CBE in 2007 from HM Queen Elizabeth II – that took long enough. Perhaps they waited until his leopard print tights were firmly stacked away and he wasn’t likely to start singing “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy”?
