The recent collapse of the roof at the Apollo Theatre in London caused a huge stir both amongst theatregoers and amongst celebrities. The news of the collapse at the historic building was plastered across the news and social media sites in next to no time, and while nobody lost their lives there were some injuries resulting from the incident.

The stars were quick to take to social networking sites in order to express their own shock at what had happened, and some were more shocked than others because they had actually been in the theatre onstage when the roof caved in.

1. David Suchet

David Suchet, the British actor, was quick to take to Twitter where he wrote: “What a tragedy. My thoughts are with all those who are hurt and injured at the Apollo Theatre. I have played this beautiful theatre… I hope all the staff back stage and front of house are safe. My thoughts are with you too.”

2. Andrew Lloyd Webber

The legendary Lloyd Webber also went on Twitter and wrote: “Terrible breaking news about the Apollo Theatre. My thoughts are with everyone tonight.”

3. Elaine Paige

Paige was actually starring at another theatre close by when the collapse occurred. She said: “It was a tragic and shocking thing to hear. Clearly there’s been a tragedy over there.”

4. William Shatner

William Shatner, the legendary Star Trek actor, added his thoughts, stating: “Prayers and thoughts going out to the victims of the Apollo Theatre roof cave-in in London.”

5. LeAnn Rimes

Comments were also made by singing sensation LeAnn Rimes who simply stated: “My heart goes out to everyone in London who were injured at the Apollo tonight.”
